Contract Type – Permanent
Location – Nationally (To commence with duties in Secunda)

We are inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for appointment as Health & Safety Officer.  This is a mid-tier position on the dredging site.  The ideal candidate is safety oriented with a specific focus on zero harm.  The candidate is detail-oriented and ready to act in emergencies.  Your work will be largely focused on prevention, so you need to be conscientious and farsighted.

Required Experience & Qualifications (Mandatory)
  • Natioal Senior Certificate
  • Diploma in Safety / Environmental Management
  • SAMTRAC
  • SACPCMP Full Registration (Construction Health & Safety Officer)
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ relevant experience in the Mining / Construction Industry
  • OHS Act and MHSA knowledge & experience
  • ISO 45001 and 14001 knowledge
  • Incident investigation (Advantageous)

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote Occupational Health & Safety programs in the workplace.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments and enforce preventative measures.
  • Ensure quarterly inspections & tagging of equipment is up to date.
  • Ensure that health, safety & environmental policies are enforced and adhered to.
  • Identify OHS-related training needs.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and injuries and refer them to the relevant manager / authorities.
  • Ensure that all company employees meet and adhere to all OHS requirements.
  • Conduct VFL and PTO’s.
  • Conduct WRAC and JRA’s.
  • Advise and assist the employer in complying with the provisions of all relevant standards.
  • Record and investigate all incidents to determine causes.
  • Implement and improve the SHE plans and programs.
  • Conduct SHE inspections and risk assessments.
  • Conduct SHE audits.
  • Report on all OHS-related activities.
  • Provide OHS training if and where necessary.
Remuneration

Market Related – Depending on qualifications & experience.
