We are inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for appointment as Excavator Operator. This is an intermediate level position on the project site. The ideal candidate is a diligent machine operator who takes pride in his work and who is production focused. He is a team player with a strong technical feeling for machinery conditions and behaviour, while planning and executing his tasks with care. The candidate will operator the excavator in any part of South Africa.
Required Experience & Qualifications (Mandatory)
- National Senior Certificate
- Valid Excavator Operator Competency Certificate
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as Excavator Operator in the Mining / Construction Industry
- Experience as Long Reach Excavator Operator / Amphibious Excavator Operator will be advantageous
- Working knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic systems
- Clean criminal record
- Medically fit
- Valid drivers’ license

Key Responsibilities
- Provides input into project execution plan.
- Assists the Site Manager in establishment / disestablishment of the project site.
- Ensures that he understands the execution plan and that he is in agreement with the plan.
- Ensures that all health & safety requirements are met.
- Oversees the condition of the excavator and ensures that all malfunctions and/or anticipated problems/maintenance are reported to the Site Manager and attended to in time.
- Operates the excavator in a responsible and sensitive manner.
- Ensures that production targets are met.
- Focus on project deliverables.
- Sees to it that all equipment and tools are used as intended only and kept in a prime working condition at all times.
- Takes responsibility for all equipment under his authority.
- Keeps project administration up to date.
- Executes daily maintenance routines on the excavator.
- Adheres to all start-up, shut down and maintenance procedures as a matter of routine.
- Communicates with the Site Manager on a regular basis to plan ongoing project activities.
- Keeps track of machine servicing intervals and informs the Site Manager of planned maintenance in time.
- Manages all risks appropriately and actively partake in toolbox talks and risk assessments.
- Provide suggestions for betterment of systems and plans to build a better, safer, more efficient business.
